Health Daley’s Vision
The Value of TOPRA
The connections that I’ve made, and the recognition gained for involvement with TOPRA activities have been outstanding as a developing Regulatory professional with high ambition over the last decade.
TOPRA is the professional membership organisation for individuals working in healthcare regulatory affairs. It offers a myriad of networking opportunities, training, and support to those interested in the sector.
I’ve previously volunteered my time to provide professional training (Introduction to Regulatory Operations CRED), have led large audience presentations and chaired event streams (Regulatory Careers Live, TOPRA Symposium) and have supported the growth and reach of Special Interest Networks (SPINs).
Challenges Faced by Students and Professionals
This year’s event was a fantastic opportunity to meet some new faces nearing the end of their studies, looking to shift roles, or returning from a career break.
Common themes from this year’s event included:
High interest from those looking to jump straight into Regulatory roles from Uni, but uncertainty with the type of Regulatory work that best suits their interests.
Career switchers looking to move on from lab-based research roles.
An identified gap in recruitment opportunities for those returning from a career break from Regulatory Affairs.

Advice from Presenters and Exhibitors
I also had the pleasure of catching up with some very familiar faces on their recent successes including Satnam Bhambra of Gilead Sciences, Josephine Tolley of Perrigo, and Simon Brough of PharmiWeb job board. It was extremely reassuring to hear about the health of their careers and ventures.
In addition to discussing possible partnerships with Health Daley, they generously shared some great insights of value to those in the market for a new role:
Try to get out there, network and build profile online and at recruitment events like TOPRA Regulatory Careers Live.
Try to get a short-term foot in the door to build experience early to help with expanding your options long-term.
A focus on skills to prepare for the wave of automation and AI developments.
