The UK Black Business Show 2023

The UK Black Business Show was created to inspire and connect Black Business owners and working professionals. This year’s show emphatically highlighted the achievements and contributions Black businesses have made to the economy, and future areas ripe for major growth.

Health Daley attended to hear from aspiring professionals and business owners with the goal of understanding where the most significant issues lie in the UK today.

Challenges for Black People in the UK

The focus of the discussions throughout the day highlighted how far black culture and success had come despite some harsh environmental difficulties.

Amo-Agyei candidly shared her impressive business story and her resilience during the pandemic, her business being burgled, and ongoing difficulties with delivery costs and supply chain trouble as she expands into the USA.

Reni Eddo-Lodge dove into her personal journey on the impact of her writing and honesty around the tough balance between her working life and her passion for activism and comunity organising.

Lydia Amoah spotlighted the importance of representation with questions on the potential differences in emotional reaction to surgery with a black doctor or applying for a loan from a black investment loan bank associate.

• Garvey Seaton on testing out new ideas: Take risks and experiment with speed to gather feedback from failures or successes and learn from both quickly.

• Wycliffe Sande on making business decisions: don’t rush, but don’t delay.

• Yeshua Carter on finding mentors: Gravitate towards leaders that see the qualities in you and are willing to amplify your talents.

• Flavilla Fongang on worrying about your background as a negative: Don’t allow your mindset to create a perspective that holds you back from the success that you know you are worth.

• Steven Bartlett on his focus area if he were starting his career again at 21: The greatest opportunity of our lifetimes, like we’ve never seen before, not even with the internet, is artificial intelligence, and how it’s going to fundamentally change the world.
